Beautiful Things Come together,

One Stitch at a time!

Vladanka was born and raised in a small Serbian village in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Growing up she always watched her mom Anka sewing and altering clothes for her and her sister by hand. Her parents couldn’t afford a sewing machine, so her mom had to alter the clothes by hand. She was so impressed by her mom’s work and how passionate her mom was; that she wanted to help. This is how she learned the basics of sewing. With time her skills continued to improve, and she knew that it was something she always wanted to do. In honor of her mother Anka she decided to name the business after her, Anka’s Alterations.

Vladanka has over 20 years of sewing experience. Shortly after moving to the United States, she started her career as a seamstress by working at David’s Bridal in Alterations.

With a lot of training and attending many workshops at David’s Bridal, she became an excellent seamstress. With hard work she was promoted to be the manager of the alterations department of her store. She was extremely successful as manager and was promoted to be the Alterations District Manager, where she oversaw alterations across 14 different stores for David’s Bridal across the mid-west. Her role was to help train and develop other seamstresses and alterations managers.

After working at David’s Bridal for over 17 years she decided it was time to leave and follow her dream of starting her own business.
